Echo Wall by Rare Breed  Productions

Few thought that  Rhapsody E11 would be bettered anytime soon, but on 28th July 2008 the first  ascent of Echo Wall high on the north face of Ben Nevis brought another rise in  world standards in trad climbing. Although ungraded, Echo Wall is a strong  contender for the world's hardest traditional rock climb. The film follows  Dave's preparation and attempts on Echo Wall, through some of Scotland's most  beautiful mountains and climbing venues.

Dave's preparation routes; a free solo of Darwin  Dixit (8c) in Spain and the winter route Don'tt Die (XI) on Ben Nevis are also  featured. Filmed and produced by Dave's wife Claire MacLeod, this film charts  the story of a new level of determination and calculated risk taking in rock  climbing.

I'd recommend everyone buys a copy. This is a remarkable achievement by Claire and Dave and a great piece of film-making in the most difficult of emotional and physical conditions.     John Watson
