Hotaches Productions
Hot Aches was formed in 2003 and is an adventurous film production company based in Edinburgh. Paul Diffley is the man in charge of taking a camera where it really doesn't want to go to film some of the finest and thrilling stories of modern British climbers on the edge...
Their most highly rated film is the tale of the world's hardest traditional rock climb (in Scotland), called E11. This productrion rightly won thirteen international film awards and has become one of the most commercially successful European climbing films ever.
They followed this up with two climbing films called Committed Volumes I and II which explored the psychology behind hard traditional climbing ascents in Britain and abroad. In 2009 Monkey See Monkey Do was a third collection of similar gripping climbing escapades from Britain's cutting edge.
Their most recent film is The Pinnacle, a film recreating the famous winter climbing partnership of Robin Smith and Jimmy Marshall in 1960 when they stormed the great ice routes of Ben Nevis. The film follows Dave MacLeod and Andy Turner's attempt to reclimb the same routes during a week in February 2010, comparing the modern style with the old with some entertaining lessons in endurance.
